PIMPRI CHINCHWAD: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has sent a letter to Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML), directing it to stop erection of advertisement hoardings at BRTS stations in Pimpri Chinchwad fearing a repeat of the incident near Pune railway station in October last year when a 40-foot hoarding metal frame collapsed on vehicles.

Vijay Bhojane, spokesperson, BRTS cell, told TOI that the civic body had sent three letters to the transport body in this regard.

Giving details, Bhojane said, “PCMC is developing four BRTS routes in the municipal limits. PMPML has started erecting hoardings at bus stations near Aundh hospital, Rakshak chowk and Sangvi phata on Sangvi-Kiwale BRTS Road, and bus stations at Shivar chowk as well as Wakad phata on Nashik Phata-Wakad BRTS Road.”

The official added, “These advertisement hoardings are not structurally stable and therefore we had sent letters on January 11 and reminder letters on February 8 and 11, directing PMPML to stop the work.”
