Pune airport is situated in the Lohagaon area, about
10km or 6 miles from the city. The small but well-maintained airport operates about
7-8 flights every day and is serviced by Jet Airways, Indian Airlines and Gujarat
Airways for the Pune-Mumbai, Pune-Bangalore, Pune-Delhi, Pune-Chennai, Pune-Ahmedabad,
Pune-Hyderabad and Pune-Goa sectors.
The flying time between Mumbai and Pune is less than 30 minutes. Check flight timings
for schedules by calling the airport itself on: 668 5201. Flights are available
to Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore and Ahmedabad from Pune Airport itself.
Mumbai is the nearest International Airport to the city however.
Getting into town from the airport
Special taxis You can book a taxi from the prepaid taxi counter which charges a
nominal fee for air-conditioned and non-air conditioned vehicles.
Regular taxis and Rickshaws: Outside the Airport
you can get regular taxis and rickshaws, however they are not metered and you are
required to barter the price (before) stepping inside for the ride.
Out-of-Pune Taxi service: You can hire a taxi to Shirdi or Mahableshwar
directly from the Airport.
Buses: The most economical way to reach
the city is by the bus service run by ex-army men. The ticket costs are low and
they generally co-inside with flight times. The tickets for this service are available
at their counter which is adjacent to the prominent BPL Mobile stall.
